IMPORTANT NOTICE - NOT HEALTH OR MEDICAL ADVICE

LODE is a training load management tool, not a medical service. Nothing in this App constitutes medical advice, clinical diagnosis, or a recommendation to undertake or avoid any specific exercise. The App does not replace assessment by a GP, physiotherapist, sports medicine physician, or any other healthcare professional. If you have a health condition, injury, or have been advised to limit exercise, consult a qualified healthcare professional before using LODE.

1. About These Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LODE Fitness mobile application (the "App") and the website lodefitness.com (the "Site"), operated by LODE Fitness Ltd ("LODE", "we", "us", "our"), a company incorporated in England and Wales, with its registered address at 7 Simpson Street, London SW11 3HN.

By creating an account or using the App or Site, you confirm that you are at least 16 years of age and that you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the App or Site.

2. Nature of the Service

2.1 What LODE Does

LODE is an injury prevention and training load management tool for recreational runners. Using data from your connected wearable device, the App:

  • Calculates your acute and chronic training load using scientifically validated EWMA (exponentially weighted moving average) methodology.
  • Classifies your current training status within a four-zone framework: Recovering, Maintaining, Building, or Overreaching.
  • Provides adaptive weekly running plans based on your current load status.
  • Offers educational content on running science, injury prevention, and load management.

3. Accounts & Security

Eligibility

To use the Service, you must be at least 16 years old, provide accurate and complete registration information, and accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use or suspected breach of security.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service lawfully and responsibly, provide accurate training data, respect intellectual property rights, and take responsibility for your own training decisions. You must not use LODE as medical advice or as a replacement for healthcare professionals.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraud, misuse the Service, or for other valid reasons at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time via the app or by contacting us.

Upon termination, your personal and workout data will be deleted or anonymised within 30 days of account closure.

4. Intellectual Property

The Service, including software, algorithms, content, text, design, graphics, and trademarks, is owned by LODE Fitness Ltd and protected by copyright and other IP laws.

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You retain full ownership of your personal and workout data. By submitting or syncing data, you grant LODE a limited license to process and store it to provide and improve the Service.

We may use anonymised or aggregated data (not personally identifiable) to improve algorithms, analytics, or system performance.

5. Third-Party Integrations

When you connect LODE to Garmin via the Garmin Health API, you authorise LODE to access your activity data including GPS route data, heart rate, cadence, pace, distance, elevation, and workout duration.

You can disconnect integrations at any time. Data accessed from Garmin will only be used to calculate training load metrics and related insights. We will not sell, share, or publicly display data retrieved from these integrations.

LODE complies with the Garmin Developer Program Agreement, including:

  • Obtaining valid user consent before accessing Garmin data
  • Using data only for the intended functionality
  • Implementing appropriate technical and organisational security measures
  • Not selling or disclosing Garmin user data to third parties

We may in future support additional wearable integrations. Any such integrations will be clearly disclosed and require your explicit consent.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

LODE currently offers the Service. We may introduce paid subscription plans or premium features in the future. Details of paid plans, pricing, and features will be announced in advance. You will be notified before any charges apply.

All fees will be charged in GBP (£) unless stated otherwise. Refunds (if any) will be handled in accordance with UK consumer law and published subscription terms.

We strive to maintain consistent availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service for maintenance or improvement without prior notice.

7. Medical and Health Disclaimer

LODE is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

All data, calculations, EWMA metrics, zone classifications, and recommendations are estimates and should not be relied upon for medical or professional fitness decisions.

You should consult a qualified healthcare or sports professional before:

  • Starting a new training program
  • Returning from injury or illness
  • Making significant changes to your routine
  • Training with pain or medical conditions

Stop training immediately and seek medical advice if you experience chest pain, dizziness, fainting, or severe shortness of breath.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

We are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages (direct or indirect) resulting from your use of the Service, including training decisions based on our data, inaccurate third-party data, device errors, service outages, or data loss.

9. Limitation of Liability

If we are found liable, our total liability shall not exceed £100 GBP or the amount you paid to use the Service in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LODE Fitness Ltd, its officers, agents, and affiliates from any claims, losses, or liabilities arising from:

  • Your breach of these Terms
