I finally have clarity

I'd had the same shin injury three times in 4 years. Always around 6 weeks before my marathon. I just assumed it was bad luck. LODE showed me it wasn't. Every time, I'd spiked my load in a few weeks prior without realising it. Now I can actually see when I'm pushing into the overloading zone before my body pays the price. I've finally made it to race day healthy.

LODE only takes necessary data from your watch with your consent. We use mileage, pace, HRmax, HRaverage, resting heart rate for the load calculations. For the insights page, we also pull data points such as calories, sleep score, body battery etc.
Most AI run training programs or running apps currently give plans. They pull the data as an informative concept but do not adapt the plan accordingly. LODE takes your data and gives you personalized recommendations on what your body ACTUALLY experienced. We all know running when sick, tired, underfueled, on your period or simply after a week off does not feel the same. Your training plan should know this too and adapt safely.
Training load is a representation of how difficult your run is on your body. Distance and pace make up the external load, while the heart rate variations make up the internal load. These data points allow you to see how your body reacted to the run rather than seeing them all as the same stress on the body.
EWMA (exponentially weighed moving averages)is a financial concept that has been adapted in sports science to calculate the load on the body through different forms of exercise. Rolling averages weighs the run you did 4 weeks ago as the same as the run you did yesterday. EWMA takes into account that older workouts don’t affect you as much as your new ones.
By using EWMA, we pay close attention to your trends. There are no hard cut offs like we used to see in the past. Everybody reacts differently to load, but trends and rates of load increases/decreases are a lot more personal. This allows us to flag when you’re putting yourself in a riskier zone. That being said, there are no guarantees as there are so many factors that can cause injuries. Our aim here is to prevent overloading injuries, while educating you on the factors we can’t control for you.
LODE takes your data and gives you personalized recommendations based on what you’ve REALLY done. There are no cookie cutter plans with us. Even if you don’t follow our recommendations, we will adapt them to the runs you have done to help keep you in the safer loading zones. We will do our best to get you through your plan safely, if we see that it's not feasible, or likely to overload, you'll get a notification, and you can change your plan.
Pace alone doesn’t show how hard training is on your body. Training load accounts for stress, fatigue, and recovery. Two runs at the same pace can have very different impacts.
Consistently low load may slow fitness improvements. LODE identifies underloading and suggests safe volume increases. This helps return to your target volume safely, without sudden jumps.
